Dormers Wells Infant School

Dormers Wells Infant School

Welcome to our school

We hope that your child will enjoy his/her time with us and that s/he will develop knowledge, skills and attitudes relevant to the fast-changing world in which we live.  To achieve this we believe that it is important to work in partnership with parents/carers.  We hold regular meetings and open evenings for parents/carers and send home a weekly newsletter and half-termly curriculum overviews to help you support your child’s learning at home.  We also run courses for parents/carers throughout the year.

This website gives you an impression of the way we work but you are also welcome to visit.  If you would like to do so, please contact the school office to make an appointment with either the head or deputy head teacher.

We offer 100 part-time places for 3-4 year olds in our Nursery.  Nursery sessions run for 3 hours and parents may choose a morning or afternoon session.  The Nursery is staffed by a teacher, 3 Nursery Nurses and a Teaching Assistant based on a 'Key Worker' system.  Children start full time education in the September of the year after their fourth birthday.  Pupils then progress into Year One and Year Two.  There are four classes in each year group. Dormers Wells Junior School is on the same site and most of our children transfer to the junior school at the age of 7.
