Statement of Aims & Ethos

 Our Aims

We aim to:

  • Provide a happy and secure learning environment in which children can thrive and in which staff feel valued for their contribution.
  • Maintain a welcoming atmosphere for families and visitors.
  • Value children as individuals and appreciate their achievements.
  • Respect each child’s culture.
  • Enable each child to realise his/her potential academically, spiritually, morally, socially and emotionally.
  • Maintain high standards and expectations in all aspects of teaching and learning.
  • Equip pupils with a wide range of skills and opportunities to prepare them for life.
  • Participate in and contribute to the life of the local and wider community.

 

We achieve and maintain our aims & ethos by:

 Delivering a broad and balanced curriculum (appropriately differentiated to individual needs).

  • Delivering a regular range of curriculum enrichment activities
  • Sharing our aims/vision with the wider community through our programme of visitors, curriculum enrichment opportunities and work with external agencies,
  • Celebrating success through special assemblies.
  • Full staff commitment to school policies and sharing the vision for the school.
  • Sharing experience, resources, information and valuing everybody’s contribution.
  • Our commitment to Continuing Professional Development.
  • Having clear school and class rules and applying them consistently.
  • Maintaining a visible presence for parents/carers.
  • Involving parents in the work of the school through a weekly newsletter, termly open evenings, concerts, curriculum and parenting workshops and classroom help.

 

We measure our success in the following ways through:

 The targeting and tracking of pupil progress and the analysis of their achievements, including attendance rates.

  • Feedback from parents and visitors.
  • Progress against the SIP objectives.
  • Self-evaluation.
  • Pupil Voice
  • Work with external agencies
  • Accountability to the Governing Body and LA representatives.
